Expert CV Session Prepares Students for ITUM Career Fair 2025 Interviews
As part of the final preparations leading up to the ITUM Career Fair 2025, the Industrial Training, Career Guidance, and Post Diploma Education Centre conducted a focused and practical session on professional document preparation. The session, titled “Essentials of Crafting a Professional CV,” was held on October 7th, 2025, at the TAG Gunasekara Multifunctional Hall.
Designed specifically to equip students with the tools needed to secure interviews and perform confidently during the Career Fair’s recruitment phase, the session was delivered to students across all ITUM divisions. The training was conducted by Dr. Ruchira Wijesena, who guided students through the principles of developing a strong, industry-ready curriculum vitae aligned with employer expectations.
Purpose and Relevance
With the Career Fair marking a crucial milestone in student–industry engagement, this session was strategically positioned to ensure students could present themselves professionally and competitively. A well-structured CV is often the first filter in the recruitment process, and the session focused on strengthening this essential component.
Key Areas Covered
The programme provided students with clear, actionable insights on:
- Structuring a modern, professional CV suited for engineering and technology sectors
- Highlighting academic, project, and practical experience effectively
- Showcasing achievements and soft skills that matter in real-world recruitment
- Avoiding common formatting and content mistakes that can undermine an application
- Tailoring CVs to specific companies and job roles expected at the Career Fair
The highly practical nature of the session ensured students were able to immediately refine their documents in preparation for recruiter evaluations.
Preparing Students for Confident Engagement
As the Career Fair approaches, the CV preparation session forms an essential part of the Centre’s broader strategy to enhance student readiness. This initiative, delivered with the support of the divisional Training Coordinators, reinforces ITUM’s commitment to bridging the transition from academic training to professional opportunities.
By equipping students with well-prepared CVs and a clear understanding of employer expectations, ITUM positions its diplomates to make strong first impressions and secure high-quality interviews during the recruitment phase of the Career Fair 2025.
